The Localized Corrosion and Electrochemistry section focuses on fundamentals of electrochemistry in order to elucidate the actual mechanisms of corrosion processes, as well as on experimentally observing corrosion mechanisms on the micrometer scale in interaction with microstructural features. Main themes of their research are local electrochemical analysis of corrosion mechanisms, (dis)bonding of organic coatings and smart corrosion protective coatings.
