The general field of research is functional surface technology mainly based on metallic and inorganic coatings. The application areas include electronics, micro-system technology, sensors, and electrochemical energy conversion (fuel cell, electrolysis, batteries, and capacitors), but also tribological coating are of interest. The research include synthesis of functional surfaces based on electrochemical processes, and studies on degradation mechanisms in specific harsh application environments with the purpose to develop relevant accelerated test methods and models for lifetime prediction.
